My Top Three Reading Program

White Oak Media Center Reading Program

The White Oak Media Center is proud to announce the "My Top Three" motivational reading program.  The goals of the program are to encourage self-selection of "just-right books" along with spreading the love of independent reading.  It is optional for students to participate, but it is so easy!

After students read, they record their books on the "My Top Three" reading log.  They need to rate their book and write a short reflection sentence on the log.  Students are asked to read 10 fiction books and 10 nonfiction books for their logs.  These can be the same books they are finishing for class reading.

Students can choose either just-right-for you books or challenge books to include on the log.  The Five Finger Test can help students determine if a book is easy, just-right, or a challenge.  All students will receive a Five Finger Book Mark that explains the steps they can use to find a just-right book.  When students have completed a "My Top Three" reading log, they can turn it into the Media Center for a prize. The prize list is on the back of the reading log.

Please let me know if you have any questions.  Also, I would love to get parent volunteers to help with this program.
